A Good Economy vs. Our Bad Economy
Right now, we currently have a bad extractive economy.
This “bad” economy enriches only a few elites, and it does it by stripping the majority Americans of all hope and wealth - simply because those elites want to play financial games with our country for their short-term gains.
And as a result, our bad, extractive economy now jeopardizes all of our lives and our futures.
So, instead of remaining on this path, I want to reverse this trend with a series of institutional and physical infrastructure projects that will grow a good economy.
What' is a “good” economy?
A good economy is an economy that strengthens the working class with a virtuous cycle of prosperity and broad wealth creation that uplifts us all; which comes from innovation and production, not exploitation or financial games.
A good economy is an economy that:
Creates broad economic prosperity that helps everyone, not just a few small groups;
Creates opportunities and allows people to make the best use of their talents and skills, and doesn’t leave people behind;
Protects people’s freedom to make the choices they want, such as careers and lifestyles;
Encourages people’s participation in economic activities and collective community goals;
Maximizes equality of opportunity and encourages meritocracy within institutions, not equality of outcome; or cronyism or nepotism;
Fairly compensates people who work for a living, not enriches price-gauging rent-seekers;
Is sustainable, and does not come at the expense of future generations or the environment;
Utilizes people as a dignified human resource, not as a resource for extracting wealth;
Permits entry of new businesses and products, it doesn’t support monopolies.
Doesn’t let businesses exploit workers and unjustly extract their wealth, labor, and time;
Fosters more economic growth, it does not stifle it.
Ultimately - a good economy invests in the institutional and physical infrastructure that promotes economic stability, increases productivity, and maximizes freedom - which then cycles back into the self-sustaining growth of a good economy that uplifts us all.
If we focus on these tenants of a good economy, then we can move forward towards lasting progress and prosperity.
So, that’s what I want to do - make progress.
Although my proposals revolve around economic growth, I’m not personally interested in economics.
Instead I am interested in a good society, where people are safe, happy, healthy, and free.
But, a good society requires a good economy - and a good economy requires a good society; as one can cannot exist without the other.
When our society or economy fails, the other also deteriorates - such as in our current situation in America, where both our society and economy are severely broken.
So, as a response, I focus my Platform on economically driven infrastructure projects that will create a good economy - because if we don’t take action towards a good economy, our country will fail.
